What is Lean Office?
Lean office means optimizing your way of working/being in your office environment in a manner that requires the absolute minimum in resources (human, materials, surface, office machines, IT,...) to fulfill customers expectations. This approach therefore guarantees a high quality, low cost and reliable service together with short reaction times for back-office units.
The essence of the system is the elimination of everything that is not beneficial to the customer, meaning all kinds of waste, or all elements that prevent flow. Between 60 to 80 percent of the costs associated with a product are non-production costs. The non-production costs are often related to administrative processes that ensure that the product is ordered, released, shipped, paid for,... The employees control the events and activities that occur in a Lean Office, not the other way around. Only those employees who show an active involvement will be able to implement another way of working, guided by a systematic approach called Lean Office.
